CANOPY 23
A conservation finance lead falls from a Sabah canopy tower just before verification, while raw forest data shows that Plot 23 exists twice in the carbon ledger.
Canopy 23 brings CASE//ZERO into rainforest field science, combining LiDAR, plot tags, canopy access, pollen traces and carbon-accounting models without turning the landscape into background decoration.
The premise
Dr. Hanafi Musa is found dead at the base of a canopy access tower hours before a carbon-project verification team arrives. The fall looks accidental, but his harness gate had been manually damaged and the data from Plot 23 no longer matches the raw drone survey. Hanafi had discovered that forest plots were being shifted on paper to inflate credited carbon without changing a single tree.
What the player is trying to establish
Reconstruct the canopy-tower timeline, compare field data with the carbon ledger, and identify who killed Hanafi to stop exposure of manipulated project baselines.
Players must compare raw ecological data to a manipulated financial model, then prove that the same person who changed the coordinates also reached the canopy tower.
Investigation skills this case rewards
- Geospatial-data comparison
- Carbon-ledger reasoning
- Field-access reconstruction
- Tool-mark and environmental trace analysis
Spoiler-free investigation notes
- A modelling disagreement becomes meaningful only when the raw coordinates change.
- Field traces can be more specific than a general location history.
- The case is solved by joining digital manipulation to physical presence.
The playable case uses a fixed solution, cloud-saved progress and a ten-minute attempt window. You will need an account so the investigation state can be saved.
