ECHOES BELOW
Witnesses hear the victim speaking after the likely murder window, but the theatre's acoustics preserve more information than the witnesses realise.
Echoes Below is an audio-heavy theatre mystery involving substage access, speaker routing, impulse responses and a deliberately misleading voice timeline.
The premise
After a closed technical rehearsal, spatial-audio designer Aida Nordin is found dead in the acoustic chamber beneath the main stage. Several witnesses insist they heard her speaking above stage almost twenty minutes later. The building's own acoustics may be the reason everyone remembers the wrong timeline.
What the player is trying to establish
Prove whether the late voice was live or replayed, map access below the stage, and identify who needed Aida's proprietary audio work to remain unclaimed.
Players need to understand how a real voice can be replayed in a way that sounds spatially convincing and then connect the replay to both access and a commercial dispute.
Investigation skills this case rewards
- Audio-forensics reasoning
- Signal-chain reconstruction
- Access-log analysis
- Intellectual-property motive review
Spoiler-free investigation notes
- Hearing a real voice does not prove it was spoken live.
- Room acoustics can function like a fingerprint.
- Clear innocent alibis before treating technical access as guilt.
The playable case uses a fixed solution, cloud-saved progress and a ten-minute attempt window. You will need an account so the investigation state can be saved.
