ENCORE
Hours before opening night in Johor Bahru, a show director is found dead behind a rehearsal mirror while a looping cue makes the room sound occupied.
Encore is a backstage digital-forensics mystery. Access credentials, audio cue automation, music stems, wardrobe footage and production politics create a case where artistic conflict and technical workflow overlap.
The premise
Three hours before opening night, show director Aiman Razak is found dead behind the mirrored wall of Rehearsal Room A. A rehearsal audio cue continued playing after his death, one master music stem was replaced, and the final programme contains a songwriting credit Aiman had ordered removed.
What the player is trying to establish
Reconstruct the rehearsal timeline, determine who manipulated the cue system, and connect the altered music file to the motive behind Aiman's death.
Players must determine whether a continuing rehearsal track proves anyone was still alive and working. The decisive chain links a manipulated music file, a production credential, a workstation security key and a physical trace from a weighted stage object.
Investigation skills this case rewards
- Cue-system timeline analysis
- Version-history reasoning
- Backstage access reconstruction
- Linking creative motive to forensic evidence
Spoiler-free investigation notes
- A sound continuing in an empty room can be an alibi device.
- Credits and royalties are evidence only when tied to action and timing.
- Production systems often record who authenticated even when they do not record why.
The playable case uses a fixed solution, cloud-saved progress and a ten-minute attempt window. You will need an account so the investigation state can be saved.
