THE LAST GUEST
A travel-tech founder falls from a riverside homestay veranda during a six-minute blackout, but the railing tells a more deliberate story.
The Last Guest moves CASE//ZERO away from city surveillance and into a remote retreat where power, satellite connectivity and physical terrain matter. The setting is quiet, but the digital record is surprisingly rich: generator diagnostics, satellite-call logs, render histories and cloud documents all leave traces.
The premise
A six-person strategy retreat ends before dawn when travel-tech founder Marcus Teo is found dead below the veranda of Riverside House 03. It looks like a fall, but the railing was loosened from inside, the generator log has been edited, and a signed land-option agreement is missing from his laptop bag.
What the player is trying to establish
Separate retreat secrets from the staged accident, reconstruct the generator blackout, and identify who needed Marcus's land-option agreement erased.
The apparent accident only makes sense if the player reconstructs who could leave their claimed location during the blackout. A land-option document, distinctive soil and tool marks must be read together rather than as separate clues.
Investigation skills this case rewards
- Blackout timeline reconstruction
- Terrain and trace comparison
- Corporate-document analysis
- Testing a connected call as an alibi
Spoiler-free investigation notes
- A connected call does not prove someone remained beside the handset for every second.
- The generator log matters because someone tried to change it.
- Look for the motive in who benefits from a document surviving or disappearing at sunrise.
The playable case uses a fixed solution, cloud-saved progress and a ten-minute attempt window. You will need an account so the investigation state can be saved.
